It's been a month now since my Lenny passed away, and it doesn't get any easier. Life without a dog in the home just isn't the same. DH doesn't enjoy walking anymore, coming home to a quiet house after shopping etc, just doesn't feel right, We still expect Len to be jumping at the front door barking because he is so pleased to see us, then sniffing all the shopping bags saying "what you got me then" We miss cuddling up to him on the sofa at night and all that sort of soppy stuff!
We were not planning on getting another dog as we thought we would not have any ties and could do a lot of travelling, but when you way it all up, it just doesn't balance! but DH was just not ready to talk about it.
There is always light at the end of the tunnel though, and my torch is a very cute Standard Poodle Pup belonging to dear customers of mine, Sandra and John.
They bought Elsa in for her haircut on Thursday, she has been by far the hardest dog I've had to clip since Lenny died, as she is the closest to his appearance! Elsa is a very cheeky, lively pup and likes to box!!! she has a beautiful personality and I started thinking about having her here for a whole day when Pete was at home, hoping this would change his mind. in the mean time when Sandra collected her after her haircut, she bought her camera along and took a pic of me with Elsa.

So here is me with Elsa, not the best picture of me, but can't you just see a little shine of joy in my eyes, holding onto this little darling! Sandra e.mailed me the picture and I put it as desktop on the computer screen. Now this upset Pete and he asked me to remove it. Now I knew getting Elsa here was not going to go the way I planned and I knew I needed to give Pete more time. I don't know what happened that evening or what was going through Pete's head but this morning at breakfast, he told me YES we are going to get another Standard Poodle Puppy, but only from Lenny's breeder. You should have seen me blubbering over my toast. I am so happy and the first thing we did after breakfast was to e.mail his breeder. I am now anxiously waiting for an e.mail back... WooHoo! can't wait.
